Import Own Accounts

Hello,

I want to import my own list accounts list when creating new files and I am having problems with the existing accounts getting in the way.

Basically, the problem is if you use a pre-configured set of accounts you get a sensible numbering system but you end up getting stuck with a bunch of accounts that you may or may not want but if you want to import you own list MYOB creates a basic accounts list numbering system that makes no sense so you can not import your own without heavy modifications in the first place.

For example, in one of the MYOB accounts lists it uses numbers like 1-1000 as a header for current assets then that is broken down into subcategories such as Bank Accounts 1-1100 and Clearing Accounts 1-2000 then there is a header 1-2000 for Non-Current Assets and that is broken down into 1-2100 Furniture and 1-2200 for Office Equipment.

This is a sensible numbering system but as I mentioned I am left with a bunch of accounts that may or not be relevant.

Now if I select import my own accounts list, MYOB first creates a basic accounts list with a numbering system that makes no sense making it impossible to import without heavy modifications first.

For example, Cheque Account 1-1000 and Undeposited Funds 1-2000 ,Electronic Clearing Account 1-3000 etc etc

To put this another way if you created a new company file and used an MYOB accounts list, then exported that accounts list. Start a new file again then try to import that list it will not work!

What am I missing here?

Cheers

Nathan
