I am most probably having a real senior moment here.
I have just upgraded my file to 2017.1 and went into my employees to check the backpacker tax as their tax rate, but for the life of me I just can't find it!
My email about the upgrade told me the new version had updated WHM tax scales. What the hell are they called!
I then tried a payment summary run. My employee that was hourly and an Australian had a S in the box next to his gross payment. I assume means Simple, Standard or maybe SAustralian!
The employee I had as a salary for one pay, being taxed as an Australian and one pay as a withholidng variation (which is all I could still use seeing there was no Backpacker tax) were both included in gross payments marked S.
No where in the payment summary run did it ask me to clarify what was S and what should be H.
Seeing that we terminated all employees as at 31/12/16, on the old system, and then re-employed them on 1/1/17 as working holiday makers, I would have assumed I would be asked which one of the two payment summaries was to be marked H.
This is also going to be a nightmare for me at the end of the year, as I set all my employees to foreign resident, and have annualised the threshold and I adjust the tax accordingly.
For me this is much simpler than having to check the pay for the year every week, to see if any are getting over the limit, and also fairer to Australian Citizens, when the worker goes to another employer and gets over the limit in total, but is taxed at the lower rate there.
My Essentials client, still isn't even getting any choice for his tax rates to include WHM, and his payment summary run isn't even including a box next to Gross Payments, so when is essentials being upgraded?
Is Account Right V19 still being supported, seeing as the 201x versions are still not up to standard?
