Subscription expired, options

Hi there.

My licence to use MYOB AccountRight Plus (AU) expired with version 15.3.

Without realising this, I have in error entered a lot of transactions in version 16.2 at EOFY. My mistake.

In order to access the current file I can subscribe via MYOB, currently at $1020/yr ongoing.

I assume that this product works by providing a new serial number, but I can't find any specifics.

There is an MYOB support page for changing the serial number of a company file at http://help.myob.com/wiki/display/ar/Your+AccountRight+serial+number

So it looks like I might be able to save ~$250 by purchasing the subscription from a shop instead of direct from MYOB.

A possible problem I see is that the support page lists the following requirements --

The Change Serial Number function is only available if:

you're using the new AccountRight (this function isn't available in classic versions, such as AccountRight v19)
your company file has been activated or confirmed
you are signed on to your company file as an administrator
your company file is in your local AccountRight library (not online, checked out, or in a network library)
your company file doesn't use bank feeds
you haven't signed up for our Pay Super service.

Most of these are fine for me --

OK - I am using the new AccountRight
PROBLEM? - I currently cannot confirm the file in 2016.2 as my licence expired with 2015.3, and I can't confirm it in 2015.3 because the file was saved with 2016.2. I have no grace period days left (I don't use MYOB very frequently), so I have read-only access for now
OK - I sign in as administrator
OK - it is a local library
OK - I don't use bank feeds
OK - I have not signed up to the Pay Super service

So I have two questions --

Is my general strategy to save ~$250 sound? Or is my only way forward to buy a subscription from MYOB?
Does requirement number 2 above mean that I can't change the serial number to a store-bought subscription serial?
